Me

Pozzu

For over than 19 years now, I have been helping my customers and the industry to solve their Network Performance & Security challenges.

In today’s world, there’s so much buzz around so many areas (AI, Cloud Computing, Automation, XYZ as a code…) but here’s the thing I’ve noticed: people are becoming more and more detached from the basics of how networks and systems work. While many folks are super skilled at using Apps and trendy high-level programmatic language, most are not interested in what’s going on under the hood, and this trend is not going to change anytime soon…Looking inside the engine is what I find the most appealing!

I’ve been using Linux/BSD on all my servers and laptops, and I’m curious and like to understand how things work and go into the details, I’m sure you will spot that in my posts, and I’ve been on this journey for a while, I bet you don’t know some of theses distros :

Ubuntu -> Debian -> ArchLinux -> Parabola -> Hyperbola -> Alpine Linux -> FreeBSD

It might seen like a waste of time, but that’s how I learned so much…and I’m still learning…

Linux/BSD, and especially minimalist distributions, are a lot of fun because they force you to dig into the technology, adapt and hack things you don’t like to make it better. This is even more important when you are trying to understand or troubleshoot something that is not working as expected.

Recently, I made a switch from Linux to FreeBSD, and it has been a journey.

I’ll do my best not to get into the nitty-gritty of how different FreeBSD 😈 is, but its monolithic Kernel developped by FreeBSD is one. It is also more comprehensive, predictable and standardized than Linux, following the Unix philosophy of filesystem hierarchy structures, which makes maintenance a lot easier. It has excellent documentation, it’s rock solid, highly performant and with state-of-the-art Security and <troll> is not using systemd 🗑️ </troll>

Appart from that, I like hacking and I host & maintain most of my IT services which run on Open-source softwares, I am also using LineageOS on my phone -> I’m a big defender of Internet freedom and privacy.

And finally, you’d not find me to any social networks, I don’t find them useful :) you’re more likely to find me out 🏃 in my ⛰️ in Corsica ♥️
